Privacy Policy
iOK ("iOK", "we", "us", "our") provides a mobile application that turns everyday wellbeing signals, medication routines, and companion check-ins into a clear status that trusted people can follow. This policy explains what personal information the iOK app and service collect, how we obtain your consent — including the consent we ask for before your mobile phone number is added to your account — how we use and share that information, and the choices you have.
1. Information we collect
Account information
Your mobile phone number, and optionally your name and email address. Your phone number is the identifier you use to sign in to iOK, and it is only stored after you provide it yourself and confirm the consent described in section 2.
Wellbeing and activity signals
Signals the app uses to produce your daily status, such as device activity and screen use patterns, step or movement data, charging state, and — only if you enable it — approximate location changes. iOK converts these into a simple OK, Check, or Stale signal. You can turn individual signals off in the app.
Medication information
Medication names, doses, schedules, the times you log a dose, and any photo you choose to attach to a medication entry. You decide what to enter; iOK does not import medical records from any third party.
Companion information
The phone numbers and display names of the companions you choose to connect with, and the permissions you grant each of them. See section 4 for the rules that apply when you add someone else's phone number.
Technical information
Device model and operating system version, app version, push notification tokens, crash and diagnostic logs, and the IP address your device uses to reach our servers. We use this to deliver notifications, keep the service reliable, and prevent abuse.
2. Your phone number and how we obtain consent
We never obtain your mobile phone number from a third party, a purchased list, a data broker, or your device's contact list. The only way your number enters iOK is when you type it into the app yourself and give consent on the same screen.
The consent flow inside the iOK app works like this:
- On the sign-in screen you enter your own mobile phone number into a field you control. Nothing is pre-filled and nothing is read from your device automatically.
- Directly beneath that field, the screen states in plain language that by continuing you agree to let iOK store your phone number for your account and to send you a one-time verification code by SMS, that message and data rates may apply, and that consent is not a condition of any purchase. The same screen links to this Privacy Policy.
- You must take an affirmative action — checking the consent box and tapping the continue button — before your number is submitted. If you do not consent, you cannot be signed in by phone and no number is stored.
- We send a one-time code to that number and you enter it back into the app. This verifies that the number is yours. Only after successful verification is the number attached to your account.
- We keep a record of the consent you gave: the number, the date and time, and the app version and wording you agreed to.
See the public preview of the upcoming in-app SMS consent screen for the checkbox wording planned before a verification code is requested. The currently available APK does not yet include this SMS flow.
You can withdraw this consent at any time by deleting your account in the app or by emailing support@iok-app.com. Withdrawing consent removes your phone number from your account and ends phone-based sign-in.
3. SMS text messaging, opt-in and opt-out
What we send
- One-time verification codes. Sent when you sign in or verify your phone number.
- Care and status alerts. If you are a companion, we may text you when a person who connected you has entered a red or stale status, or when a medication dose is overdue — but only for the people who added you and only for the alert types you have enabled.
- Account and service notices. Transactional messages such as security notices, companion invitations, and confirmations of account changes.
What we do not send
iOK does not send promotional or marketing text messages of any kind. Every message we send is transactional and tied to an action you or a connected companion took.
Message frequency, rates, HELP and STOP
Message frequency varies and depends on your activity — for example, how often you sign in and how many alerts your connections trigger. Message and data rates may apply. Carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages.
Reply STOP to any message to opt out of further SMS from that number; we will send one confirmation message and then stop. Reply HELP for assistance, or contact support@iok-app.com. Opting out of SMS does not delete your account, but it will prevent you from receiving verification codes by SMS and may prevent you from signing in or receiving care alerts by text.
Sharing of mobile information
No mobile information will be shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes. Information sharing with subcontractors in support services, such as customer service or message delivery, is permitted. All other use case categories exclude text messaging originator opt-in data and consent; this information will not be shared with any third parties.
4. Companion phone numbers
iOK lets you connect with companions by entering their phone number. When you do this you are telling us that you have that person's permission to add them and to have iOK contact them about you. Please only add people who have agreed to it.
A connection is not active until the other person confirms it in the app. Until they confirm, we use their number only to deliver the invitation and, if they do not respond, we delete it. A companion can leave a connection at any time, and either side can remove the connection, which stops all further status sharing and alerts between you.
5. How we use information
- To create and secure your account and to verify that a phone number belongs to you.
- To calculate your daily status and show it to the companions you have approved.
- To deliver medication reminders and overdue-dose follow-up.
- To send the push notifications and SMS messages described in section 3.
- To provide customer support and respond to your requests.
- To keep the service reliable and safe, including fraud prevention, rate limiting, and debugging.
- To meet legal obligations.
We do not sell your personal information, we do not rent it, and we do not use your health or medication information for advertising.
7. How long we keep information
We keep your account information, including your phone number, for as long as your account is active. Status signals and medication history are kept while they remain useful to you and your companions. When you delete your account we delete or anonymize your personal information within 30 days, except where we must keep records to comply with law, resolve disputes, or enforce our agreements — for example the record of your SMS consent and any opt-out request, which we retain as proof of compliance.
8. Security
Traffic between the app and our servers is encrypted in transit, access to production data is limited to the people who need it, and verification codes are short-lived and single-use. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security, but we work to protect your information and will notify you of a breach affecting it where the law requires.
9. Your rights and choices
- Access and correction. View and edit your profile, medications, and companions in the app.
- Deletion. Delete your account in the app, or email us and we will do it for you.
- Consent withdrawal. Withdraw phone-number consent as described in section 2, and SMS consent by replying STOP.
- Signal controls. Turn individual wellbeing signals, location, and notification types on or off at any time.
- Regional rights. Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights to a copy of your data, to object to or restrict processing, or to complain to a supervisory authority.
To exercise any of these, contact support@iok-app.com. We respond within the period required by applicable law and may need to verify your identity first.
10. Children's privacy
iOK is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their personal information. If you believe a child has provided us information, contact us and we will delete it.
11. International transfers
We and our service providers may process your information in countries other than your own. Where required, we use appropriate safeguards for those transfers.
12. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy. We will change the "Last updated" date above and, for material changes, give notice in the app before the change takes effect. Continuing to use iOK after that means you accept the updated policy.
